Spring Cordylines

March 9, 2016

Add some interest and color with Cordylines!  They bring vibrant tropical color to your garden or landscape!  Think bronze, wine, pink, dark and lime greens.  They are also known as Hawaiian Ti Plants (pronounced like a cup of tea) and in The Hawaiian Islands, where you’ll find so many, they are considered lucky.  These pretty foliage plants provide flair!  They dazzle when the sun catches them.  There are many cultivars and some are great for Sun and others for Shade.  They are perfect for adding height, planting in pots near a pool or on the patio, and layering with some seasonal color planted below.  Bromeliad Cordyline

Seasonal Tips and Notes:

In the Winter, they send up a spiked bloom from the center;

Their color tends to be the most vibrant in Winter and Spring (amid cooler temperatures);

Sometimes these get leggy in the Summer, so to encourage a more abundant looking group of Tis, prune during warm weather.  Try cutting of a cane at one of the lower levels of the plant.  Once new growth flushes out where it was pruned, you can cut another cane.  This will help keep some foliage on the plants during pruning.

We are stocked with Cordylines and they are on sale through March 16th!

To Spring!
