New Guinea Impatients

While these plants can tolerate full sun exposure during the short days of our cool season, nothing beats the impact of New Guinea impatiens for color in the shade. They are a more drought tolerant species than Impatiens walleriana, and with their sturdy stems and large flowers represent an upgrade from the usual. Marvin has evaluated over 200 cultivars of New Guinea Impatiens over the years. Our line-up includes only those varieties that have proved themselves locally both in trials and in your landscapes.

The utmost consideration is given to selecting those that display these key characteristics:

  • Outstanding color display; large flowers, with vibrant, lasting color on blooms that fully open flat above the foliage.
  • A full and uniform habit; Sturdy stems with a good branching
  • Adapted to unique demands of our region; Vigor suited to South Florida conditions, disease and drought tolerance.
  • We have drawn from the offerings of 3 different breeders to bring you an array of 24 color choices in two leaf tones. All with uniform and consistent habit.
